At the age of eighteen, Cox was chosen for his first important professional role in the 2003 psychological suspense film. He joined the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School after finishing filming.
He was cast as Lorenzo in the 2004 Al Pacino film The Merchant of Venice during the summer after his first year of studies. It is defying the school’s rule prohibiting students from participating in auditions for outside productions.
