BTS Military Duty Will Be Decided By MCST In December!

As the members of BTS get closer to the age of 30, there has been a lot of discussion about their possibility of serving in the military.

A Decision Regarding BTS Military Duty Will Be Made By The Ministry Of Culture, Sports &Tourism By December

On Wednesday, it was disclosed that a conclusion would be reached about the matter in question before the end of the current calendar year.

A Decision Regarding BTS Military Duty Will Be Made By The Ministry Of Culture, Sports &Tourism

According to the South Korean Minister of Culture and Tourism, a decision regarding BTS’s recruitment in the military would be made by December:

  • On October 5, Minister Park Bo Kyun of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) participated in the National Assembly’s parliamentary inspection of the administration. He promised that a decision regarding the resolution to the discussion surrounding BTS’s mandatory military service would be completed by December of this year.
  • A People’s Power Party member named Lee Yong Ho had requested that Minister Park investigate the problem of BTS’s mandatory military duty at the parliamentary audit. Soompi said Minister Park responded, “Member Jin’s enlistment is scheduled to be resolved by December, but the MCST will settle our stance before then.”
  • There are problems with equity between individuals who practice the arts and famous artists like BTS. When one of the members of BTS enlists in the military, this will impact the group. There is a study of public opinion, the opinions of men in their 20s, and so on.
  • Jin was born in 1992, making him the oldest member of BTS; he will turn 30 years old this year. By the modification that will be made to the Military Service Act in 2020, he will be required to sign up for military service. Conversely, if the exemption is denied, Jin will sign up for military service the following year. Other members of BTS, including RM, Suga, and J-Hope, who are getting close to turning 30, would be required to adhere to the same protocol.
  • Jin had previously addressed the issue during a press conference held in Las Vegas in April. He remarked, “I discussed a lot with the company and entrusted all military service-related activities to the company. The government agency also acknowledged the organization’s difficulty because the policy kept changing. Still, they have assured us that they are holding a careful eye on the latest modification.
  • It is mandatory for all males in the Republic of Korea to serve in the armed forces for approximately 20 months if they are between 18 and 28. As a result of the recent revision, members of BTS have been permitted to postpone it. This amendment provides recommendations to the Korean Ministry of Culture for the postponement of the mandatory service until the individual reaches the age of 30.

Should BTS Sign Up For Military Service Or Should They Not?

The debate over whether or not BTS members should serve in the military has become a global problem because the band is under the continual observation of critics, officials, and fans all over the world waiting for an update.

BTS Sign Up For Military Service

In the past, there have been discussions about holding a public poll and looking into alternative service possibilities for the septet, which has significantly contributed to the country’s economy and continues to maintain a vast amount of influence.

An official from South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, according to an update published on October 5, indicated that a decision about BTS’ mandatory military duty would be made before the end of this year, which is before December.

A request was made to actively review the problem, to which the minister responded by speaking about the BTS member Jin, whose enlistment is approaching.

Because he is the group’s senior member and will turn the maximum age in December, it is of the utmost significance that a choice is made before that date. According to reports, the Ministry intends to pick up the phone as soon as possible.

Minister Park Bo Kyun also discussed the numerous aspects that must be considered before reaching a decision.

Some of these aspects include the contributions that BTS has made to the global dissemination of Korean culture, the revered place that military service holds in the culture of the nation, the provision of an equal opportunity to all individuals, the opinions of those who have previously enlisted, and the potential consequences that would ensue if BTS were to enlist.

According to the regulations that are now in place, Jin of BTS anticipates joining the military no later than the first few months of 2023.

BTS is presently serving as the publicity ambassador for the city of Busan’s participation in the 2030 World EXPO. However, the city’s mayor had requested an alternative role for the group.

The Ministry Of Culture, Sports & Tourism Will Decide Between BTS’s Mandatory Military Duty By The End Of The Year

By the end of the year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will have decided on BTS’ mandatory military duty.

At the parliamentary inspection of the government that the National Assembly held on October 5, Minister Park Bo Kyung made a statement regarding the matter of BTS’ military duty.

A People’s Power Party member named Lee Yong Ho requested to actively review BTS’s military service while the inspection was taking place.

After Mr. Park, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism stated, “Member Jin’s enlistment would be set by December,” the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism promised to “clarify our stance as quickly as feasible.”

As the oldest member of BTS, Jin must enroll in the military sometime in the first few months of 2019 by the Military Service Act. Jin is currently 29 years old.

On the other hand, if the National Assembly goes through and passes the upcoming Military Service Act, BTS will not be required to serve in the military.
