A “musical” sequel to director Todd Phillips’ 2019 smash, “Joker: Folie a Deux,” reportedly has Oscar winner Lady Gaga in early talks to play Harley Quinn. In an Instagram post from last week, the director announced the continuation of “Joker,” along with the news that Joaquin Phoenix, who originated the part in the Warner Bros./DC movie, would likely return.
Joker 2!! Lady Gaga In Talks To Play Harley Quinn In Todd Phillips’ Film
The character of Gaga remains a mystery, but Joker is renowned for his abusive on-and-off marriage to Harley Quinn, his psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, who falls in love with him and becomes his sidekick.
Harley Quinn has previously been portrayed by Margot Robbie and Kaley Cuoco in Warner Bros. movies. Harley Quinn was rumored to be in the sequel when the director teased the script for “Joker: Folie a Deux,” which was written by him and Scott Silver.
Quinn, a character originally developed for “Batman: The Animated Series” in the early 1990s, is the only actual buddy the Joker has ever had outside of Batman. The phrase “Folie a Deux” refers to a shared delusional disease.
After its 2019 release, Joker became an unexpected hit. Despite conflicting reviews from reviewers, the movie managed to gross over $1 Billion at the box office. The film resonated with the audience and went on to win the Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Actor (Joaquin Phoenix).
The film follows a battered comic with a health problem as he ventures down a sinister path in a decaying Gotham City. Additionally, playing significant roles in the film are Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, and a few others. It is also unknown if Gaga would provide any musical contributions to the endeavor.
Lady Gaga is a 36-year-old American singer and actress born and raised in New York City, U.S. Her full name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, and she is famous by the name Lady Gaga, which she gave to herself. Gaga is one of the world’s best-selling artists and is loved and admired by her fans.
She has been fond of musical instruments since she was a child and she started playing piano when she was only 4. She started her career in 2005 and her career skyrocketed ever since and she hasn’t looked back. In her 2018 movie “A Queen Is Born,” which won Gaga an Oscar nomination for best actress and a victory for original song, the pop star collaborated with Phillips, who also served as the film’s producer.
Phoenix, who took home the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of Arthur Fleck, a.k.a. The Joker is anticipated to return, although his contract hasn’t been finalized. Arthur Fleck, a mentally unstable loner whose health starts to deteriorate after Gotham cuts funding for social services, causing him to forgo his treatment appointments, making his prescriptions inaccessible, and becoming The Joker, is the subject of Phillips’ “Joker” film. Hildur Guonadottir received an Oscar for the movie’s best original score. Fans are hoping Lady Gaga agrees to the role and can’t wait to see her onscreen.
