They got married in August 2019 after a year of dating, when she wedded her childhood friend Kenneth Petty.
When Petty, an American sex offender, failed to register as such, he was charged with a federal offense. He pleaded guilty in September of last year.
Nicki Minaj’s Spouse Sentenced Due To Failure
The accused and the victim were both 16 at the time of the alleged incident, which occurred in 1994. In 1995, he was sentenced to four years in jail for the first-degree attempted rape of a female, for which he was convicted.
As a condition of his sentence, he is required to register as a sex offender wherever he goes. To make matters worse, he didn’t do any of that after going to Los Angeles with Nicki Minaj.
Because he disobeyed the order, he might have been sentenced to 10 years in prison and a lifetime of house arrest with electronic monitoring, but for the time being, he avoids any jail time.
In addition, he received only a year of home detention and three years of probation upon his conviction. In addition, he was ordered to pay a fine of $55,000 at the Federal Courthouse in Los Angeles during his conviction hearing.
He is simply required to reside at his multi-million dollar Calabasas mansion as per the orders.
During a traffic stop in November 2019, Beverley Hills police discovered that the suspect had a criminal record in New York as a serial sex offender and had failed to register as a California resident since moving to the state.
In September 2021, Petty pleaded guilty, but his sentencing hearing was repeatedly postponed. According to the prosecution, the judge suggested 15 months in prison and five years of probation instead of home confinement because he clearly lives with Nicki Minaj in a luxurious Calabasas estate.
The judge didn’t agree with the prosecution’s request and sentenced him to one year of home confinement, three years of probation, and a $55,000 fine instead.
In August, the alleged victim of rape, Jennifer Hough, filed a complaint against the pair, in addition to the previous troubles he had with the victim.
According to the lawsuit, Hough claims that both Minaj and her husband, the alleged rape suspect Petty, have attempted to coerce her into rejecting the rape charge she brought against him, including offering her $500,000.
Even though she agreed to drop her complaint against the rapper, she still accused them of imposing emotional anguish.
One of Hough’s lawyers has stated that Minaj was freely dismissed while her husband Kenneth Petty is still being prosecuted, and they have even asked to remain until the end of this civil lawsuit.
Jennifer Hough, the alleged victim, appeared on “The Real” in September 2021 and spoke candidly about the 1994 rape that she claims happened to her.
As she stood at a bus stop, Petty allegedly came up behind her and drew a knife on her. They went to his house later and raped her with knives in their hands there.
As he pushed her to the bed, she claimed to know exactly what he required and they got into a scuffle for her clothes. She miraculously escaped his hands and made her way back to school, where she is now.
When they filed a criminal complaint and explained her side to security, he was detained the following day.
His wife, Minaj, was always by his side, offering support and encouragement at all times. When the incident occurred in 2018, she addressed it on Instagram by writing, “He was 15 and she was 16, and they were in a relationship.
